Gmail Themes

Ninja Theme Logo

I was surprised when I logged into my email today, since I usually check using IMAP. The site colors suddenly changed to light blue, with a notification message stating that new themes are now available on Gmail. I really didn’t like the default set of theme on my mail, so I dropped by the themes section to change.

I was shocked to see that Gmail Themes doesn’t only feature themes with different shades of colors, but themes that look fun and modern like the Ninja theme (that’s what I’m using now). Their themes also have some cool tricks, like changing the way they look based on the time, so they ask for the user’s Location to synchronize the time. Now, I’m excited to see how my theme would look later.

Themes are not available with Google Apps, though I’m hoping that  Google will include themes to the Google Apps, for my ChanLu and PixelMai mail to look more fun.

Ramaze is Cool

Ramaze

Ramaze

Today, my boss also called as “Master” Wayne introduced to me and Ma’am Gigi (my favorite instructor and thesis adviser), the ruby framework called Ramaze. I was amazed by the productivity of the framework. This is the first framework I will be using, so won’t be able to compare Ramaze with the other existing frameworks.

I do have an experience on a framework, but it was a self-made framework used by my workplace for their projects. The self-made framework was done in PHP, it is already useful as it is, but there are more things made easier by Ramaze. Wayne told me that you may code in ruby with only few lines of code, which will be longer and harder when compared to its PHP version.

My interest in Ruby and Ramaze sparked up today. That’s good, since this will be the language and framework that will be used in developing my thesis. Now I’m looking forward in learning more about Ruby and Ramaze, and on how they will help my coding to more productive.

Sembreak Photos

Patchen and Me

Patchen and Me

I am very happy to see the photos of me and Patchen during our sembreak (the last week of October), uploaded today at Friendster. She was my classmate during high school for four years. She is also a graduating student with the same course as me, but enrolled in a different school. Sad but true, she is studying in Cebu, while I’m still here in our hometown, Tacloban City. She still visits Tacloban City during holidays and sembreaks.

This sembreak, we managed to hang out for a day, only for one day though due to my thesis submissions and other major projects that was keeping me busy. The entire day was fun, roaming around downtown, playing badminton, chatting to our heart’s content and we ended up having snacks at my mom’s office.
