Design Fight Club

005_new_orleansToday at my workplace, we – the designers had a meeting to decide for a name of our collaborative project. We had a long list of possible names to choose from, and finally we end up with one – Design Fight Club.

After the meeting, we had a wallpaper Challenge, this is the sixth challenge and I do think this wallpaper looks decent. Our topic was “New Orleans”, as in the city located in Louisiana. I have no idea about New Orleans, so I ended up using a picture of One Shell Square – the tallest building in both the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. Then, I edited the whole thing to be a haunted building. I do like how the end result looks like, but I’m sad that I haven’t put into much thought on creating a wallpaper of New Orleans, but it’s understandable since we’re only given five minutes to think of a concept, and an hour to create the whole wallpaper.

About the Project Collective, I have here more information on what we’ve been up to.

In the creation of this website, we are following a certain process from Todd R. Warfel:

  • User Research – (Designers)
  • Requirements Definition
  • Content Analysis
  • Business Objectives
  • User Goals
  • Technology Selection
  • Card Sorting
  • Site Map
  • Process / Task Diagrams
  • Wireframes
  • Prototype
  • Usability Testing
  • Visual Comps (Mockups)
  • Style Guide
  • HTML CSS Templates
  • Testing
  • Launch

I crossed out the areas that have been completed. The bold ones are what we’re currently doing. There are three tasks for these processes: Data Requirements, Experience Requirements and “Persona” of the site. I’m doing the Data Requirements and I assigned (because I’m the leader) the other two tasks to my officemates.

Here’s what I’ve come up for the Data Requirements:

This is still not final and maybe edited by either me or any of my officemates. For me, it seems like a database design though not that deep and still not considering the relationships of the data. After this we might go to the creation of the wireframes and prototypes since we have a deadline.

  • I wanted to comment on this post, but completely forgot.

I really like this wallpaper – the building perspective is intriguing, I can see why Rogelio would think it looks movie-like. Great job on it! =)

  • The wallpaper is like a movie.

By the way thanks for posting this, this gives me an idea about the process for developing a website.

    • Hehe.
I’m posting this so I may properly document the process on the development of the site. I don’t want the project to end up like WIO, in terms of the documentation here in my blog.

Hehe? Like a movie? Cool. I’ll take that as a compliment.
