I’ve been blogging about a while now about the Designers’ Website at my workplace. Our deadline to launch our website is today, but sadly we only have a coming soon page to brag about. Our initial plan was to use the Symfony PHP Framework to create our very own CMS, but all has changed now. We will be using WordPress as our CMS, and create plugins to handle the custom features we want to implement.
Everyone seems to agree that WordPress is indeed a great application and with our busy schedules we can’t really dedicate much of our time for a custom CMS. Hopefully everything will go well this coming weeks. I’ll be having a bunch of stuff to do for this site’s upcoming launch.
Last Friday, we had our wallpaper challenge as usual. Wallpaper Challenge is a practice activity the designers at my workplace have once a week, we are given a topic and given only five minutes to think of a concept and just one hour to create the wallpaper. Though this has been done for a few days now, I have been lazy to update my blog due to the hardware problems my computer is experiencing. By far, this is the most difficult wallpaper challenge topic ever given. Our topic was:
Web Browsers’ Sportsfest
It was very difficult to come up with a concept, and I had no choice but to create a comical scene. I can’t really say that I like the outcome, but Wayne – our senior designer seems to like it. My hate for IE browsers really does show up. Too bad I’ve forgotten to include Google Chrome.

Schools here in Tacloban City, Philippines has suspended classes for a week due to positive cases of H1N1. The students are currently very happy with the sudden vacation, but the elementary and high school departments have to go to school for five Saturdays to pay off the number of days being missed. The college students sure are happy since their prelim exams has been extended, they have more time to study and prepare.
My brother who is currently a 2nd year high school student is very happy, and doesn’t mind the extra five Saturdays they have to go to school. He said that only a few people attends the Saturday classes and I guess they can hang out together after classes.
