First Drawing on my Wacom

Here’s my first drawing using my own Wacom. It took me a long time to finish this piece. Since I can’t create smooth strokes on my own yet, I used up a lot of time on cleaning the strokes.

I know there are a lot of anatomical errors on her body, if you’re gonna lecture me, go ahead and I’ll listen obediently. Also, I overdid her hand, it ended up looking like a guy’s hand, or too un-anime like.

I’ll be doing better next time.

  • Really nice! Can’t wait to see more from you. Are you planning on coloring it?

    • Hehehe. And so am I. I wanna see your gorgeous Wacom works too.
Hmmmn… I’m actually quite hesitant on coloring her. I do hope I get into the mood on finishing her.

      I have a lot of unfinished works… Maybe that’s just the way I am…

  • It’s really good, you know. You certainly wouldn’t want to see MY first drawing on my Wacom. A sketch of a sketch. Ugh.

Don’t bother with anatomy just now. You’ll have time to improve it when you get fully comfortable with drawing on a tablet.

I’m just not sure if it’s good that you cleaned it so much. It looks more as if you drew it with Pen Tool rather than drawn by hand, but maybe that was your aim.

    • Hehehe. I’m getting comfortable now, since I’m placing a thick paper on top of my Wacom… To prevent scratches and stuff. Too bad the Intuos4 series don’t include the overlays like intuos3. Are you using your overlays? I’m maybe just a lil overprotective on my gadget here. But oh well…

I’m having problems on inspiration though… Or maybe I’m just too stuck up, and want to produce something great that badly at once, since all artworks I see on DeviantArt are gorgeous pieces. I gotta start with the basics… Hehehe.

And oh yeah… I intended to clean it too much. Since I really can’t have clean lines on my traditional works, I’m messy on my traditional line arts. I wanted to have a clean line art even just once on a digital medium.

      • As for the overlays, yes and no. My personal A3 has one, which is irrecoverable, but the A5 at work doesn’t have any and well, there’s a hole in its working area >_>.
Putting a paper there is deffinitely a good idea.
But doesn’t it move while you’re using tablet?

I have the very same problem with DA. I just want to produce something beautiful like that, right now ;) . My patience fails me.

  • I like it, I can’t wait until you finish it. In my opinion, it looks pretty good for your first time on a tablet.

And yeah, I did get more than I expected which was nice, haha. But over presents I prefer to have a good time.. Oh well, I guess it was okay considering Christmas.

    How was yours?

    • Its not my first time on a tablet though. But first time on my own Wacom. Hehe. Hmmm… I’m even wondering if I wanna finish this piece. Since I did it out of the blue, to test out my Wacom.

Hehe. I just got like 21 bucks for Christmas, but its ok considering that I already have a job. I got presents for myself though – a new computer and a Wacom. Haha. Besides that, I just ended up watching anime and working on my freelance jobs. Got lots of food though.

  • Wow, nice.

From the looks of it, it’s great. I can’t wait the final result of this work. Keep it up!
