Aries artwork updates

My promised updates are here, nothing much done since I’m too frustrated with myself. Digital painting is really quite hard, and having a complicated artwork to paint digitally makes me go crazy. I also gave up on using Corel Painter on this artwork, since my computer’s performance with the application actually crawls even with its above average speed (the canvas size of this artwork is 4961×3508 though).
On this update, I was able to:

  1. find the appropriate color palette to use
  2. changed the way on how to color the hair, looks more anime-ish, but is really better compared to the last one
  3. redid the lines, the faces changed a bit.

To-do on next update:

  1. color the skin
  2. fix and clean up the line art
  3. make the horns bigger

Also, I’m wondering, should I give the Aries girl a bra? Since I’m out of ideas on its design. Maybe you can help me out =p Also, comments and suggestions are appreciated… more like awaited this time. I sure hope I’ll be able to finish this piece before March 1 though.

Solo, I need your help on this one. I can’t find you online lately.

  • Aha. Any updates on Project Ares?

  • Your girl already looks to me like she’s wearing a bra. Seems to me like you just have to paint something on her hallowed breasts to make her look like she is indeed wearing a bra.

  • if you dont want to to think about a bra, do something like what this guy did.

And try not to use pure black.

If you need more help you know where you can contact me. text text

    • Hmmmm… I agree that what she did with the character’s breast is awesome.

I haven’t used pure black, it’s just a really dark reddish brown. But I’ll try to make the picture lighter.

How about anatomy, shading and stuff? Can you spot problems?

      • What shading? You dont seem to know where you light sources are coming from.

Anatomy-wise lets start with what assume is the androgynous ‘man’. Specifically his left hand. It looks the same as the last drawing you did, makes me think you have a template and just reusing it. And the composition of that hand still stands out. I assume his hand is suppose to be resting on the hip, but it looks more like its trying to claw at something. Couldn’t it be a bit more sensual?
Next the top muscle on his left arm should not terminate like that.

The right arm looks about right except that it looks dis-jointed. Plus may is suggest that the right hand be in more of a grip.

The ‘girl’ is fairly alright except that her hand is about as big as the ‘guys’ hands. Suggestion over all is to give her torso a bit more of an arc to lean her back closer to the ‘man’ and to make the position of her arm look less strained.
