Best Thesis of S.Y. 2008-2009

After months worth of hardwork, WIO has been completed during March 2009. Me, Wayne and Ma’am Gigi had a lot of hardships with this thesis, thankfully all our work has paid off. WIO is the Best Thesis for the school year 2008-2009.

I’m glad, since the WIO team’s (actually, Ma’am Gigi and Wayne’s) aim since the very beginning is to make WIO be the Best Thesis in our school. It did came true, and we all are very happy.

Currently I posted the rest of the screenshots of WIO’s web app. I’ll also be editing the WIO page for the description of the finished thesis. I am quite sad though, that I haven’t been able to properly document the progress of WIO. I’ll make sure that it won’t happen again to my future projects.

So my school life is over now and tomorrow is my graduation, I’ll be posting about my graduation too! So don’t forget to visit Pixelmai.

WIO updates

As promised on my news update at ChanLu, here is the post containing updates about my thesis,  for all those curious people.

Currently WIO:

  • Has the major functions of the single user

WIO Meeting and V

We had our regular WIO meeting just yesterday. I was able to ask Wayne about the problems I encountered with the sequence diagrams I’m making. Wayne also had a problem with his laptop. He can only enter the command line and unable to access his desktop, he couldn’t even shutdown the computer properly. The problem was caused by LAMP, and some applications he installed. It feels too bad though since he was successful in installing DataMapper. So, he decided to install the needed programs for WIO in Ma’am Gigi’s Laptop instead, besides having crazy internet connection, no wireless driver for ubuntu, me and Wayne was forced to get out in the room we were in while Ma’am Gigi went somewhere else.

We then evacuated to another room (computer laboratory)  where the teacher was a good friend of Ma’am Gigi. We were able to find wired internet in there though one of the lab computer’s UTP cable. Wayne started installing but ended up having same problems he encountered while installing in his laptop. He must also install LAMP to Ma’am Gigi’s computer instead of using XAMPP which encounters an error when compiling Do-MySQL. But the alloted time for the meeting wasn’t enough since Wayne still needs to go to work, he then brought Ma’am Gigi’s laptop with him and hopefully be able to install everything WIO needs, and fix his laptop.

V for Vendetta

V for Vendetta

After our meeting, I went to Rogelio’s place to hang out (yes, that’s a pattern meeting -> Rog’s place). We watched the movie V for Vendetta, I know its an old movie but I was only able to watch it today. The story revolved around the main character – V who seeks for a peaceful country and revenge for those people who had done bad things to him which were already in a high position in the government. He then died in the end contented with his plans fully accomplished.  I liked the plot of the movie and the main character V. He was a skillful fighter, a master of strategies and a good cook. I was moved by his will to have revenge and how he died gracefully in the end.

Arriving at my house, there was no internet connection at Windows and I needed to be online, so I decided to use Ubuntu instead (this often happens). So I installed Visual Paradigm in Ubuntu, its a good thing that it is available to a wide range of operating systems. I had problems with VP having a blank screen and can’t further continue in installation, the easy solution on that problem is turning off the effects on Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects, and everything should run smoothly. Also, the VP in Ubuntu is faster than the one installed in Windows, so I was having more fun creating diagrams here in Ubuntu. Now, my diagrams are finished and I’ll be moving on to the user interface prototypes.
